Â鶹ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø

I am a proud Â鶹ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø descendant community member on both sides of my family tree dating back 100 years. On my father's side, John Easten Heath served at the college as a custodian beginning in 1929. On my mother's side, my great aunt Hazeline Knox served as a laundry worker alongside Lula Bell Houston for decades. My connection to Â鶹ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø dates to when I was a high school student in the Love of Learning program founded by the Reverend Brenda Tapia, former Assistant Chaplain at Â鶹ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø. I currently serve in a similar role as Associate Chaplain with the Chaplains' Office.

I began serving as Associate Chaplain and the inaugural Director of the Â鶹ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø Forum in the fall of 2022 after serving at Princeton Theological Seminary in a similar role. In my role with the Chaplains’ Office, I get to support students in a variety of ways. I co-lead the Interfaith Fall Break Retreat&²Ô²ú²õ±è;– A Beloved Community in a World House and other spiritual retreats, serve as sports chaplain for our scholar-athletes, and coordinate Preministry cohorts. Most importantly, I hold space for pastoral care and counseling. My door swings on welcome hinges and it is an honor for me to walk alongside students and all college community members through the heights of joy, depths of pain, and murkiness of questions.

In the spring of 2026, my work with the Â鶹ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø Forum concluded and I began serving with the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion as Director of Descendant Community Outreach. As Director of Descendant Community Outreach, I serve as the primary liaison between Â鶹ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø and descendant communities, building trust-based relationships and advancing meaningful, long-term partnerships.
